Cisco WAE-612-K9 — Wide Area Application Engine for WAN Optimization and Branch Acceleration
Cisco WAE-612-K9 is the Cisco Wide Area Application Engine 612, a 1U rack-mountable appliance built specifically to eliminate that gap, delivering WAN optimization and application acceleration for large enterprise branch offices and regional data center core deployments through Cisco WAAS, ACNS, or WAFS software. Powered by a 3.0GHz Intel Pentium D dual-core processor with 1MB L2 cache per core and an 800MHz front-side bus, 2GB of DDR SDRAM expandable to 4GB, two hot-swappable front-loadable Serial Attached SCSI drive bays configurable with up to 300GB drives in RAID-1 using Cisco WAAS, and dual Gigabit Ethernet ports, it provides the compute foundation, storage resilience, and network connectivity that demanding WAN acceleration deployments require. The WAE-612 addresses the core performance problems that distributed enterprise networks encounter daily — high latency, excessive bandwidth consumption, and inconsistent application response times for centrally hosted services.
